Painting accent walls can take an all-white living room or all that neutral beige to new heights. But it's not quite as simple as slapping a coat of paint on one randomly chosen wall.
Lemon Soufflé Pancakes with Raspberry Butter
1/2 c. whole milk ricotta cheese
3 lg. eggs, separated
1/4 c. cottage cheese
1/4 c. unsalted butter, melted
1/4 c. all-purpose flour
2 tbsp. sugar
1 tbsp. grated lemon peel
Generous pinch of salt
Place ricotta cheese, egg yolks, cottage cheese, butter, flour, sugar, lemon peel and salt into bowl. Blend ingredients well. Transfer contents into larger bowl. Beat egg whites in medium bowl to medium-firm peaks. Fold whites into mixture in larger bowl, half at a time.
Heat griddle with butter until butter sizzles. Drop batter by heaping tablespoon onto hot griddle. Cook pancakes until bottoms are brown, about 2 minutes. Turn and cook until second sides are brown, about 1 minute. Transfer pancakes to cookie sheet and keep warm in 200 degree oven. Repeat with remaining pancake batter, adding butter to griddle as necessary. Makes about 18 pancakes. Serve with Raspberry Butter and warm maple syrup.
On that note I leave with you impressions from some inspirational photos I’ve taken from our June trip to Hawaii. I love admiring the energy and color found all around this glorious place. May you encounter and create great joy and hope around you!

When it comes to winter weekend getaways, it's all about making the most of the cold conditions. Once you marry magical ice and snow with cushy amenities like roaring fireplaces, access to fresh powder, or a glistening ice-skating rink, the season will feel vibrant and full of fun. And be sure to take pics!

Take accent wall inspiration from your room: from your inspiration piece, choose the color that stands out to you the most. Integrating how you're painting your accent wall into the room's color scheme will make it feel like one cohesive space, preventing the sometimes-jarring effect of accent walls.
Select a muted tone when painting accent walls: You don't want to go too bold when painting these walls. Nowadays muted tones are more desirable.
Choose the right accent wall: Sometimes it’s a challenge picking a wall when there isn’t an obvious focus. Some suggestions: In an oblong room, the best wall to accentuate is the farthest short (in width) wall.
Generally, the perfect accent wall should also have no windows or doors and be no more than one story tall
Don't get too matchy-matchy: Sure, you want your wall to work with your color scheme—but avoid matching too well

While moving forward in our holiday plans and preparations we are not forgetting the needs of our neighbors, near and abroad. I invite you, then, to remember the areas and people that have been hurt during these recent tragic events with prayer and whatever help you can give. I believe this will be a season of blessings!
9 Cozy Winter Vacation Ideas
As we near the fall/winter holiday season of celebrations and gatherings of loved ones I find renewed hope and joy beginning to enter back into our home. This summer, while filled with wonderful and fun memories, has been marred by much tragedy within the U.S. and abroad that will take years to recover. Devastations have come from

Find the ‘natural focal point': Before you start make sure you've selected the right statement-making accent wall. Figure out where the natural focal point in the room is so you can make it more dramatic by painting the wall in a different color.

Bathroom updates are one of the most rewarding changes you can do in your home. I especially enjoy when a customer says, “let’s gut the whole thing and start fresh.” Of course, you can add a new beautiful look simply by changing out the countertops, mirror, and lighting.
One of the most requested items on the “To-Do-List” for a bathroom is a tub/shower conversion to a full shower with new tile (stone, ceramic, subway, etc.), adding a soap/shampoo niche, and new modern hardware. Seamless glass around adds to the elegance of the new shower. My favorite is developing patterns with the tile to build the “show case” experience.
Recently, we adapted a master bath to accommodate wheelchair accessibility (see photos to the right). We added 36-inch pocket doors, increased the floor space in both the bathroom and toilet room, and created a walk-in/roll-in shower unit.

“I have used RP&D for a couple of projects and they have always provided outstanding service. The last project included painting the exterior of my house. During the inspection, some wood rot, not visible from the ground, was detected, and as a result, a rather large section of my roof needed to be repaired. So right in the middle of the paint job, RP&D had a roofer come in and make the repairs (two days) without any delay in getting the original job done! Great folks to work with! ”
