Home sellers are often advised to apply a fresh coat of paint before listing their properties, but they shouldn't overlook the impact of color. A Zillow analysis of more than 32,000 photos from sold residential properties finds specific colors can either boost or crimp a home's selling price. Here are their results:
1. Slate Grey or Dark Navy Blue
2. “Greige” exterior: mix of gray
3. Blue to Soft Gray-Blue Kitchen: now the most appetizing color for kitchens.
4. Taupe Living Room: light beige, pale taupe or oatmeal.
5. Blue bedroom: calming cool shades are preferred, such as light cerulean to cadet blue.
6. Blue dining room: slate blue to pale grey blue. Also navy blue with white shiplap.
7. Light Blue or purple bathroom: think powder blue to periwinkle.

As temperatures soar it’s difficult to stay cool. The hot weather can make you want to curtail outdoor activities and stay inside all day. Instead, here are 7 ways to stay cool in the heat.
1. Cool off at a water park or Pool
You’ll need to reapply sunscreen frequently and take breaks in the shade, but cooling off at a water park or pool is a fun, active way to stay comfortable.
2. Seek the shade
Take a stroll through a park with a lot of mature foliage to protect you from the sun.
3. Pick your times
Limit outdoor activities around midday. Instead, get outside early in the morning or in the evening. Start slowly, gradually pick up your pace, take frequent breaks, and if it’s hot, don’t exercise as hard.
4. Drink plenty of water
Don’t wait until you’re thirsty, instead, make sure to drink water before, during, and after your time outside.
5. Wear the right clothing
Loose, breathable, lightweight and light-colored clothing made from cotton breathes better than synthetic fabrics. Don’t forget the hat.
6. Don’t wipe your sweat away
When it’s allowed to evaporate, sweat can cool your body. You can jump-start the process by giving yourself a quick mist of water from a spray bottle before heading outside
7. Know your best cooling points
If you can’t easily get out of the heat, try applying a paper towel soaked in cold water or a cold water bottle to your body’s best cooling points – your wrists and neck.
Summer time in Texas can be brutally hot and humid but is also vacation-time! We had the joy of gifting our high school graduate to the beauty of the Hawaiian islands for our family vacation. Our favorite was the big island, Hawaii, with its bio-diversity and powerful volcanic activity. If you’ve never been, I highly recommend it!

1. In a large skillet over medium heat, melt 1 tablespoon butter and olive oil. Add mahi mahi and season with salt and pepper. Cook until golden, 3 minutes per side. Transfer to a plate.
2. To skillet, add remaining 2 tablespoons butter. Once melted, add garlic and cook until fragrant, 1 minute, then stir in lemon zest and juice and parsley. Return mahi mahi fillets to skillet and spoon over sauce.
3. Garnish with more parsley and serve.
Grateful for the growth RPD has been experiencing over these past couple of years, in large part due to repeat and referred customers, we are excited to start giving back to our community. Every quarter we are taking a portion of our profits to donate to local
One of our most challenging activities was to hike up Kilauea from the lava viewing area in order to witness the glowing hot lava flow, up-close and personal. Without going into detail of the 2-hour bike ride and 3-hour uphill hike on the uneven glass-like hardened lava (mostly in the dark), suffice to say it was one of the most grueling journeys of my life and certainly the most physically demanding for our teen daughters. In summation, the process was a lesson in working together, patience, fortitude, long-suffering, and endurance in order to obtain one’s goals. Lessons can be learned in many ways, but I believe some loom larger and longer lasting than others: this was one of those opportunities.
What we learned: When the road ahead to your goals
seem impossible or just too difficult, don’t give up.
Look for support around and within, and remember
the journey can be just as momentous as the end.
Along the way we learned more about ourselves
and each other while building lasting memories.

You know you may have
waited too long to paint the
exterior of your home when
the paint on wood and stucco surfaces not only fades from sun exposure, but also becomes chalky as paint fails with age. During the preparation phase of this house, we found a lot of wood damage behind the gutters. The carpenter and painters worked diligently on restoring the exterior; transforming it to looking like new again while updating the color.
Materials used on this home were Sherwin Williams Duration paint for the wood surfaces and Luxon High Build paint for the stucco. With the combination of these paints the homeowner should not have to worry about painting again for 10-12 years. (You can save money by painting about every ten years rather than waiting till extensive wood damage occurs.)
For this first quarter we’ve selected a start-up community outreach project that is quickly making a large impact within its surrounding neighborhood: the Ministry Center of Northern Hills UMC, located at 4306 Naco Pass. They are reaching the
Thanks to Bruce S. who gave us a great review through Demand Force on our website:
“Charles and his crew arrived on time and assessed our renovation needs in minutes. They took measurements, made suggestions for replacing wood and provided an estimated cost for all work, which they said would be completed in no more than 3 days. As promised, the job was completed timely and his crew cleaned up the site to our complete satisfaction.
My wife and I were very impressed with the quality of the materials used, and with the craftsmanship of the renovation. His technicians were clean, polite and very skilled. It was a pleasure to do business with him and I recommend his services to anyone without reservation. You will be pleased with the results. ”
